4 Common Mistakes Businesses Make With Their Website

May 25, 2020 Laura

Creating a website may seem simple enough. However, the truth is that making a compelling one isn’t as easy as you might like to think. When you lack a quality business website, it’s inviting your customers to lose interest. The result? Lost customers and lost money. Unfortunately, there are a considerable amount of business hours out there with low-quality websites.

Presenting your customers with a quality website is the same as presenting them with a quality experience. Your website is meant to combine practicality with visual appeal. In an attempt to achieve this, a lot of people missed the mark. Take a look at some of the biggest mistakes businesses make with their websites and what you can do to avoid them. If you need help affording professional help marketing your business, you could use car title loans as startup capital to hire a professional designer.

Poor Design

First impressions are everything, and your website is no exception. Your website visitors will instantly get a feel for who you are as a business the minute that they land on your page. If they arrive and your site is full of too much information and is visually clashing, it will speak poorly for your business.

Even though you might like to consider yourself a web designer, unless you have a considerable amount of experience or were professionally trained, then you should probably hire a developer to do the work for you. Websites with too much going on won’t just confuse visitors; they take too long to load, and will eventually turn customers away.

Irrelevant Content

It’s important that everything on your website directly relates to your business. Every image text and link should have something to do with your industry. Graphics or photos that have nothing to do with your page will confuse your visitors. Make sure that you choose relevant content that will keep your website visitors on the right track.

Using Low-Quality Images

Your website should be peppered with images in addition to text. However, when you do use images, it’s critical that you use high-quality ones. Using grainy or blurry images looks unprofessional. If you don’t have quality images of your own, then you should consider using stock images that are professionally taken.

Difficult Navigation

Your customer should know how to get from point A to point B on your website without having to search for it. Navigability should be a top priority when creating a website. In today’s digital era, people don’t like to have to search for something for too long. They want instant gratification, therefore, you should have everything mapped out in a way that allows them to get around with no fuss.

In addition to making sure it’s easy to navigate, you should also make sure that it’s legible. Even though the search bar may be obvious to you, if it’s not bold and a reasonable size, your visitors aren’t going to see it.
