Nowadays it is pretty easy to start up a really simple website. With the help of web development platforms, anyone can make a prototype website very fast.

However, these services are very limited, and if you decide to use them, you’ll find out very fast just how restrained you are. You will not just be restrained, but you will be at their mercy.

If they decide to increase prices, there is nothing you can do if you are reliant on their platform to keep your website up. I was absolutely sick of relying on these platforms and decided I want full control of every aspect of my business, including its digital presence.

To gain this control, I decided to take courses from The Site Helpers. The Site Helpers have a catalog of amazing, well-rounded courses and I’m going to take this time to tell you about my entire experience taking The Site Helpers classes, and how they benefited me and my business.

Where I Started

Before taking The Site Helpers courses, I was pretty website illiterate. As I said, I used a 3rd party service that hosted my website and made the design process very simple.

It was actually too simple, and when I decided I wanted to change some aspects of my website up, as well as add in certain functionalities, I was unable to do so. I hated being limited so I decided it was time to learn this website stuff myself so that I’ll never be limited again.

Outsourcing

There are a lot of classes on The Site Helpers. The first couple of classes are for learning about website design in general, the foundations of it, and where to start.

One class that stuck out to me was about how to outsource your actual website creation. I decided to take the beginner courses, followed by the outsourcing course, followed by the advanced courses.

I took the courses in this order so that I could outsource my website creation, while I learned all of the nooks and crannies of web development, then I could take over after I was more knowledgeable.

Learning WordPress

About 40% of all sites on the entire web are created in WordPress, so if you had to choose just one thing to learn, then learn WordPress. The Site Helpers course on WordPress was very intuitive and brought me up to speed rather quickly.

I would’ve never been able to grasp WordPress, or assume the correct workflow, had it not been for their courses. After their courses, however, I feel like a pro.

Learning PHP

Object-Oriented PHP. I’ll be completely honest and say I had no idea what this meant before I took the course from The Site Helpers.

PHP is a very popular programming language for web development and is used to make websites dynamic. After learning PHP, I really felt like a web pro.

I am now confident that I could build any website that I’ll ever need, completely by myself.

Where I’m at after The Site Helpers

As I said, I feel like a pro! My business’s website is fantastic. I added a lot more sections to it, all by myself with the help of PHP and WordPress.

Things like contact forms, a blog, an online shop, the works. I’m very proud of my site, and I’m confident that I’ll be able to keep with the times as technology inevitably evolves in the future.

Thanks to The Site Helpers, I was able to transform my website.
