3 Tips For Keeping Your Young Kids Clean And Hygienic

May 26, 2022 Laura

Some kids tend to be like magnets for dirt and grime. And while kids don’t have to be completely spotless to be healthy, it’s good to keep your kids clean so that they can be hygienic. But what’s really the best way to do this, and how often do baths and such really need to take place?

To help you in figuring all of this out, here are three tips for keeping your young kids clean and hygienic.

Teach Proper Bathing Techniques

When you put your kids in the bath or a shower, it’s good for both of you to know what proper bathing techniques you should be using.

When your kids are little, like babies or toddlers, they really don’t need to be bathed all that often. Just a few times a week should suffice. In fact, bathing too much can cause irritation with your child’s skin, so don’t be using that bathtub stopper too often. When they do take a bath, make sure you’re washing their hair and every part of their body with mild soap.

Once your kids get a little older, they can take on some of the cleaning responsibilities themselves. Just make sure you’ve taken the time to really teach them how to properly clean their hair and bodies, including things like starting at their face and moving down their bodies and getting every inch clean, including private parts, between toes, and under their fingernails.

Take Notice Of Changes To Skin

After your kids have taken a bath, spend a few minutes moisturizing their skin so that they can avoid irritation or dry skin associated with things like eczema.

When you’re putting creams or lotions on them, try to do a quick survey over their body to notice any changes to their skin. Things like rashes and irritation can often creep up on kids, so noticing them quickly can make a big difference for fighting them off. While most bumps, rashes, or scabs will likely be innocuous, keeping an eye on things like this can be incredibly helpful.

Always Put On Clean Clothes

Another way to ensure that your kids are always clean and hygienic is to have them put on clean clothes everyday, or even during the day if they have gotten dirty or sweaty.

While kids might have a favorite pair of clothes to wear all the time, making sure they are always wearing clean clothes, especially clean socks and underwear, can help them to stay healthy and avoid any unpleasant smells. And if your kids get sweaty feet, consider having them switch between at least two pairs of shoes each day so they can properly dry out.

If you’re unsure how to best keep your young kids clean and hygienic, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you with this.
