4 lifestyle habits for healthy hair

May 3, 2022 Laura

Although it’s not 100% clear whether specific changes to your lifestyle can reduce some of the effects of hair loss, there’s no doubt that taking action to improve some of your habits can potentially help you enhance the health of your hair. From improving your diet to reducing your stress and anxiety levels, there are lots of things you can do to boost your hair. Let’s take a look at some of our favourites.

Reduce stress

Studies have found that excessive stress levels are linked to certain types of hair loss while affecting both your mental and physical health more generally. Practising daily mindfulness is a good solution to excess stress, whether you meditate in the morning or head into nature for an afternoon stroll. Stress is without question one of the biggest issues for your general wellbeing, so make sure you take enough time to decompress and improve your mind, body, and soul.

Exercise more

Incorporating regular exercise into your daily routine is one of the best ways to reduce your stress levels. Whether you jog around the block, hit the gym, or play five-a-side football, moving your body will boost your health and wellbeing. Studies have indicated that exercise might also limit levels of DHT in your body, but more research is required to say definitively. Still, there’s no doubt that exercise has a positive impact on your health, and it could improve the quality of the hair on your head.

Start hair loss treatment

If you want to take even more action to combat hair loss, starting a clinically-backed treatment is a good place to start. Sons’ treatment plans include Minoxidil and Finasteride, which are the only two medications that have been scientifically proven to treat hair loss. Regularly taking hair loss medication over a long period of time is one of the best ways to combat male pattern hair loss.

Be gentle

When you’re washing or styling your hair, make sure you do so with a gentle touch. If you’re too rough, you may end up damaging your hair, particularly if you’re already prone to hair loss. When you’re washing, conditioning, and drying your hair, keep your touch light and avoid too much pressure and powerful hair dryers. You should also be careful when styling your hair, and it’s helpful to choose your products wisely to ensure they don’t damage your hair.

Hopefully, you’re now in a better position to make some small yet impactful changes to improve the health of your hair.
