Home is where you come back after a day of tiring work. It’s also a place where you can be completely yourself, without a hint of pretence. The design and construction of your humble abode plays a huge role in de-stressing you. A calm, beautiful house even heals patients. House doesn’t necessarily have to be modern, hi-tech, and fashionable to have a sense of peaceful feeling in them. It’s not the space; it’s the nature of arrangement in the nature that it matters.

So, in order to make your abode healthy and stress-free, there are certain things you can do and bring a positive impact to your living space. Know 9 ideas that will aid you in making your place healthier and happier. Take the guide:

  1. Keep the windows open

Natural light and wind can brighten up your mood as well as your day. Keep the doors and windows of your home, as much open as possible so that air can enter into your home. If your room doesn’t have windows, have a table lamp with soft lighting instead of the bright fluorescent lighting, to create the illusion of natural bright light.

  1. Greenery around you

Decorate your home with beautiful plants and let the nature enter your house. Research suggests that keeping natural elements in the house helps in lowering down the blood pressure. Have a small kitchen garden to de-stress yourself, gardening here helps a lot. Medicinal plants like aloe vera are good for the mind, body and skin.

  1. Light colours on the wall

Light hues and tones give a sense of calm and peaceful feeling into the room. Colours like light blue, pale yellow and green are good colour options for houses that seek stress-free environment. However, plain white walls are good too. Colour psychology is actually a thing and is followed by many people now.

  1. Keep the decor minimal

Instead of a house filled with furniture and decorative items, have minimal decoration and more space. However, if there are no furniture in the house at all, it might give a sense that you’re disinterested. Wooden and bamboo furniture are close to nature and even to home. Always keep a bunch of flowers at the centre table as they are known to positively affect the well-being.

  1. Wall of fame

Have a wall full of photographs, your achievements, personal achievements, notes etc to have a boost of confidence and self assurance in times of self doubt. The wall will look good and even make your feel good. When in a low mood, play soft music and let it reach all corners of the house.

  1. Have nature near you

You can even include pictures of a forest, a full blown flower, a waterfall in your living room to give the essence of nature near you. Add small pebbles, colour them and use it as a paper weight and even as centre table pieces. You can even include plants in your living room, bedroom and bathroom. Plants give out oxygen which is essential for humans.

  1. Good sitting arrangements

Choose light chairs which are adjustable so that one can adjust it accordingly in whichever fashion they want it in.You can add cushions on it with a personal touch, giving it an edge. Have a table near the chair for keeping a plant, a table lamp, books etc.

  1. Hire a designer

Hire a professional architect or a designer to design your home, in the peaceful manner that you want it to be. They can give you many ideas which might be very alien to you, yet look very beautiful. Hiring a designer will make your life a bit easier and you’ll be able to have time for yourself.

  1. Give it a personal touch

Nothing can be more peaceful than being with your family. However, always staying with family is not feasible. You can keep bits and pieces of things that remind you of them. Decorate your home with things and items that have happy memories attached to it, be it a small movie ticket, a plant and even a picture near you.

Home is where the heart is and to make this heart healthy and peace. Stress can really disrupt the working of day to day activities, which can later take a toll on your physical as well as psychological mental. Hence, it’s very important to have a safe haven to return to.
