A varicose vein can lead to pain if not managed or treated. This condition requires certain lifestyle changes to help you control your symptoms. Your health care provider can direct you to exercise to enhance your blood flow. Here are some ways that can help you manage varicose veins.

  1. Firmness Leggings

Your blood needs to flow in one direction, and this means the valves must work properly. If not, the valves will fail to work, causing the blood pool, thus worsening varicose veins. This is where compression stockings come in. These stockings fit tightly to put less pressure on your legs to support damaged valves. The leggings also improve proper blood flow and prevent blood clots.

  1. Correct Shoes

Some people are at more risk of developing varicose veins due to genetic factors. Also, age and poor lifestyle choices can put one at risk of developing the condition. Such can worsen the condition and cause pain. Those who frequently wear high-heeled shoes have a greater risk of developing the condition. Having varicose veins and wearing high-heeled shoes can further worsen your vein situation. Try to put on shoes that support your arches.

  1. Do not sit or stand for long.

Some jobs like nursing and teaching require you to stand most of the time. In such a case, you need to find the time and rest and exercise in between. Standing for long can stress the veins of your legs. Also, sitting for long periods can interfere with your blood flow. Ensure you balance everything you do to avoid worsening your condition.

  1. Exercise

Varicose veins can be painful; hence some exercises can be a challenge. But there are specific exercises that can improve your leg vein blood flow. For example, you can go walking or swimming to help the blood in your veins to flow properly. If you are coming from varicose vein treatment, you should avoid the exercises until your doctor gives you the go-ahead.

  1. Quit Smoking

Smoking has adverse effects on the body, and it’s known to damage blood vessels. It also limits proper blood circulation and contracts blood vessels. The result is poor circulation and varicose vein development.

  1. Raise your feet

When managing varicose veins, you have to elevate your feet. This helps blood to flow freely into your legs and back, thus boosting circulation. Raising your feet also reduces pain and swelling. Reduced swelling relieves painful ulcers related to vein disease.

  1. Choose a healthy lifestyle.

When you are overweight, you will put more pressure on the varicose veins, thus worsening the blood pooling. Blood pooling comes as a result of poorly functioning vein valves. It’s good to lose weight to relieve pressure on your leg veins and prevent the worsening of your varicose vein appearance. Also, eat a balanced diet to keep your weight ideal and healthy. Avoid too much salt, which causes water retention, thus causing weight and pressure on your legs.

  1. Treating varicose veins

Numerous varicose veins endovenous laser treatment help eliminate varicose veins under the direction of a vascular specialist. It would be best if you adapted to a healthy lifestyle since the condition may return even after treatment. A healthy lifestyle helps support medical interventions to provide a better outcome. Another treatment that has been used to manage varicose veins is Sclerotherapy- this procedure involves a vascular specialist injecting the veins for blood to reroute to healthier veins.

Treating and managing varicose veins involves many methods. This may include surgery, and lifestyle changes like discussed above. Elevating your feet, exercises, quitting smoking, eating healthy, along with other ways, will help reduce your risk of developing venous ulcers and blood clots.
