All the mechanical equipment, be it in the industrial sector or household, requires constant maintenance because of the wear and tear they suffer on a daily basis. If they are not maintained properly, they may require repairs, which might cost more. Garage doors wear out because they are used multiple times a day. If they are not maintained regularly, they might need repair or be replaced completely. If you don’t have a garage door yet and want to install new garage door in Vancouver just call A1Garage.com. Here are some additional tips for you when performing maintenance work on your garage door;

Lubrication: Since garage doors are mechanical, it involves a lot of rotating parts and gears. These parts worn out after some time, which can result in squeaks coming from the door. Check these parts randomly and lubricate them often. A well-oiled machine might not require repairing and can save you some extra money.

Check up on Rollers: When a garage door is opened, it rolls back in an upward direction, which is done by rollers. Since garage doors are used daily, these rollers are meant to wear out at some stage. Check those on a quarterly basis; if one of them is worn out better, replace it to avoid any incident because these hold the door’s weight.

Weather-strip: On all the garage doors at the bottom of the door, there is a rubber strip; it’s called a Weather-strip. The purpose of this strip is to prevent cold air, water, and dust particles from entering the garage. Check it twice a year for any damages and should be replaced at least once a year.

Checkup Nuts and Bolts: Mechanical objects like garage doors depend on nuts and bolts to ensure its working. Since garage doors are used more often, some of the nuts and bolts are bound to be loose at some stage. A loose nut or bolt can result in breaking, keep checking those loose bolts as much as you can and keep tightening them or replacing them.

Clean and Paint: Garage doors are the first thing anyone sees outside your house or a place of business. Keep your garage door clean; if it’s a glass one, use any window cleaner. Most of the doors are made of metal, so look out for any rusting, use sandpaper to remove the rust, and then paint. If it’s a wooden door, it might get affected by wood chipping or watermarks, better polish, and paint it. If you’re a business, paint your logo on the garage door, this is the best advertisement, which also doesn’t cost much.

Safety: Periodically check the safety of your garage door. All the garage doors come with an auto-reverse system, meaning if anything is obstructing its path, the door will roll back and would not shut. Keep checking this function ideally every month to avoid any untoward incident.

Performing some of these maintenance tips on your garage door will help prevent lengthy repairs and also save some money.
