Girish Navani is a very good friend of mine and someone who loves football, soccer that is, just as much as I do. In fact Girish Navani is locally considered an expert on soccer and he regularly does punditry work for the local newspaper. We often debate about the beautiful game as we have differing opinions on just about everything, VAR, European Super League, Orange cards, you name it we differ. Somewhere else the Girish naval and I struggle to find middle ground is when debating which is the best league in the world. For my part it is the Barclays Premier League and for Girish Navani, her says that La Liga is the best in the world. And so we thought we’d let you decide, let’s start with what Girish Navani believes.
The Case For La Liga
Girish Navani reckons that La Liga is the best in the world for a number of reasons, two of the biggest reasons as to why he think this are named Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. For him he believes that the league with the best players in the world must be considered as the best league in the world. He does have a point to some extent in that the Spanish league can attract the world’s very best, after al they can count on the likes of Suarez, Coutinho, Bale and Luka Modric, not to mention that players from La Liga have won the Ballon d’Or in every one of the last 16 years. The changing landscape of the battle for the top is something else which Girish alludes to, something which I of course completely agree with, in my view it is a two-horse race which occasionally features a streaker!
The Case For The Premier League
I have numerous reasons as to why the Premier League should be considered the best in the world and the first point that I will make is the level of competition which there is in England. On any given day teams with the most incredible squad of players can be turned over by a hard-working and organized team who may even be at the bottom of the table. The Premier League has plenty of thrills and spills, some brilliant players, the best fans in the world and the fact that the league title can be contested by 4 or 5 teams is just what a league needs to be considered the best. The final point I will make on why this is the best league in the world, Leicester City, the club who were almost relegated in the 2015/16 season and who went on to lift the title the following year, blowing the big boys and their money away. Football was created in England and the brand of football which they have in their domestic league is the very best.
