Tips for Finding Your Signature Scent

Everybody knows someone who always wears a perfume that represents them perfectly. Finding a scent that you can spray onto your neck and wrists each morning that smells exactly like your aura can be a challenging task, but not an impossible one. If you find yourself flip-flopping between different perfumes, finding ones you like but never one you cherish, then read on, as here are four tips for finding your signature scent.

Make a List of Your Favourite Individual Scents

If you have several old perfume bottles lying around your house, they may just come in handy. Pick up some of your favourites and see if any of the ingredients overlap. You may find that, while these specific perfumes aren’t the ones for you, there is a certain note embedded within the scents that is. This can be done with shampoo, body butter and even candles – have a look at the fragrances of the ones you can’t get enough of. Then, when you are shopping for your signature scent, you’ll have a guide of what sort of scents to look out for. It’s a great starting point!

Visit Department Stores

More than likely, you have tried several perfumes in a department store trying to find the perfect one. There is a method to this, however, and it doesn’t involve drowning yourself in every bottle you can get your hands on! You shouldn’t smell more than five perfumes at once, and you should only try one on at a time. So, next time you visit the perfume section of a department store, smell five different perfumes, choose your favourite of the five, and then spray that one on your wrist. You’re still not done – after that, you need to leave and walk around with the perfume sinking into your skin. Keep track of how it smells straight away, after an hour and at the end of the day. Only then will you know how well the perfume lasts and how it reacts to your skin.

You may be repeating the department store process multiple times, so it is a solution that will take a long time, but after you’ve tested enough, you’ll be sure to find the right perfume for you.

Try a Perfume Subscription Box

This method is probably the most fun. Not only will you receive a cute new perfume each month, but you will also end up with a vast selection of scents to choose from based on your mood! Purchasing women’s perfume subscriptions means you can test the perfume for more than just one day – you’ll get a whole month out of it! This means you’ll come to know the perfume intimately, so you’ll be more likely to be certain of which one is your signature scent.

Try Ones You’d Never Have Thought of

Everyone gets comfortable in a routine, but sometimes shaking it up can be the answer to finding the scent that’s right for you. If you’re used to only purchasing floral perfumes in pretty, elegant bottles, consider trying a darker, muskier perfume. There may be a reason that none of the florals end up sticking!

Finding your signature scent can take a considerable amount of time and effort, but fortunately, it can be a fun process! Open your mind to the world of perfumes and find the luxurious scent that sums you up flawlessly.
