Tips to Clean Up After a Home Renovation

A home renovation is rewarding because, after the project, you will have a place that will fit your current personal preference and one that is more functional. After the renovation is complete, the job is not yet done because you need to clean up the house and put things back to where they should be. Here are some tips on how to do that.

Hire junk removal

After the home renovation project, scraps, and other materials that need disposal may have accumulated. Disposing of them by yourself is an added task. You want to save your time and energy since you still have a lot of other things to do to clean your home and put things back in place. Get a professional junk removal in West Palm Beach company so you can focus on other more important matters. They will pick up the junk, donate items that can still be recycled to the right organizations, and properly dispose of the remaining trash.

Remove dust from furniture and walls

The renovation may have left some dust on your walls and furniture. Clean them as you don’t want the entire family staying in a dusty home. It can be dangerous to health, especially for those who have respiratory problems like asthma. Use a vacuum to clean the furniture. Use a wet cloth to wipe the wood or steel parts. If the wall has new paint, clean it with a dry cloth, but if it’s not newly painted, clean with a wet cloth.

Vacuum the floor

After cleaning the wall and your furniture, dirt and dust will have probably accumulated on the floor. Sweep it or use a vacuum cleaner to make the job faster and more convenient. Deep clean your floor, but make sure that you use the right solution for it. Wood flooring that is coated with polyurethane can be cleaned using dish washing liquid and water. However, it is not recommended for those that are shellacked or lacquered. There are also specialized cleaning solutions that are ideal for stone and tile floors.

Clean the vents

The vents can also turn dusty after a home makeover. Since these are where air from your HVAC system passes through, you must keep them clean to ensure the air quality in your home. A mixture of water and soap is all you need to clean the vents.

Replace air filters

There are various benefits to changing your air filters and what better time to do that than after a home renovation when you are putting things back together. Some of the advantages of replacing your old air filters are improving air quality inside the house, lowering energy bills, and lengthening the life of your HVAC system.

Clean the windows

Your windows will be dirty and dusty after the renovation. Do a deep cleaning not just from the inside, but outside too. If you are in a high-rise building, it is safer to let the professionals do the work.

Cleaning up and organizing your home after a renovation will require energy and time. However, you don’t have to do it alone. Enlist the help of family, friends, and even professionals to make the job faster and more manageable.
