Why You Will Still See Office Printers For Sale

February 22, 2021 Laura

It seems absurd in the modern era that you will still see stores with office printers for sale but the reality is that there is still an enormous demand for these pieces of kit. Whilst it certainly is true that the demand for such an item, compared with 30 years ago, is significantly lower, there is still a big call for printers for the office.

We have very much moved into the digital age and through EDI systems, email and airdrop software we can do so much more at a much faster pace than we ever could before. With this being said however there is much that the office printer can help and support us with and here is exactly why there is still such a demand for this piece of technology in offices all over the world.

Traditional Office Spaces

In the same way that your grandmother may prefer to go to the bank in person rather than do online or telephone banking and in the same way that someone may wish to go and place a bet in person rather than have a flutter online, some people just prefer things as they used to be. This is the same in many small businesses around the world, they simply prefer to have the material copy of any order, invoice or any other document which they need. Ultimately there is still something of a distrust for computers and digitalization process and this is a big market for those which produce office printers.

Security

A computer expert could very simply ensure that all computer networks are fully encrypted and secured, and made unhackable. Despite this however, most office managers and company owners are not computer experts and whilst they may have some basic level of cybersecurity on their computers, they are not always watertight. For this reason we find that a huge amount of offices have issues around security and so they will look to make sure that they have a hard copy of everything that the office produces. At the end of the day if some of the world’s largest companies are able to be hacked into, then what is to stop a small office from being hacked too?

Genuine Need For Hard Copies

And finally when it comes to taxation and other audit requirements, many organizations still require a hard copy from businesses. Usually this is highly sensitive information around accounts, but there is still a need to print out such information. This kind of stuff will always be stored on computers and hard drives about that hard copy will also be stored in warehouses or in office storerooms.

We have moved on a great deal but a completely paperless society is likely something which we are never going to see, at least not within our lifetimes, and that is because of the reasons listed above which show no signs of changing.
